Your Details
When you book with us, we ask that you identify the names, ages, addresses, telephone number and email addresses of those intended to stay in the Cottage (a maximum of six). We will retain those details for our own administrative purposes. These details are not divulged to any other company or business or anyone outside those facilitating renting or servicing of The Cottage, save for enforcements of the Terms.
Payment
Payment is in advance by bank transfer to Elizabeth Thomas - details to be provided on booking. We will not ask for your credit or debit card details.
These terms and conditions are between the owners of The Cottage and the "lead guest”, defined as the individual who books The Cottage.
Payment Policy
The minimum stay (save by other arrangement) is 12 weeks.
For 12 week stays (or more) a 4-week non-refundable Booking Deposit is required to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance (the Balance Payment) for the 12 week stay is required a month prior to your arrival. If you are due to arrive within a month of your booking, the full payment for the 12 weeks stay is required to confirm your booking. For shorter stays the Booking Deposit will be subject to negotiation, but no less than one third of the total balance.
A separate refundable Damages Deposit is required prior to your arrival. The Damage Deposit is refundable less any sums required for the inventory on checkout, professional clean and repair or replacement of any damage to the premises or contents caused during the stay. If the Damage Deposit is used during your stay then a top-up payment is necessary to ensure we retain a £3,240 balance at all times.
Agreed stays longer than 12 weeks are paid in advance and in three monthly instalments, a month in advance. For example, payment for weeks 13 to 25 will be paid at the start of week 9 and so on, unless a monthly arrangement has been agreed in advance.
If payments are not received by the due date we will make every effort to contact you but if we are unsuccessful and the Balance Payment remains unpaid we will treat your booking as cancelled by you. If you are currently resident and payment for the following month has not been received an immediate Notice to Quit will be served upon you and eviction proceedings commenced. We will seek all legal costs and lost rental income associated with the eviction from the Lead Guest.
Cancellation Policy
The Booking Deposit is non-refundable expect in the following circumstances:
If you cancel your stay less than 60 days prior to your arrival, only in the event that re-letting is achieved throughout the dates you booked will the Booking Deposit be refunded.
If you cancel your stay less than 28 days prior to your arrival date and you have made the Balance Payment for your stay, the Booking Deposit and Balance Payment will be refunded only if re-letting is achieved throughout the dates you booked, less an administration fee of £100.
The Damages Deposit is refundable in full on cancellations at any point prior to arrival.
If we cancel or amend your booking -
We would not expect to have to make any changes to your booking, but should a problem occur resulting in us needing to make alterations to, or cancel your booking, we will inform you as soon as is reasonably practical. If we cancel your booking, we will refund in full all payments (including Booking Deposit, Balance Payment and Damages Deposit) you have paid to us. However, we will not be liable to refund you for any fees you may have paid to any third party in connection with your holiday stay (including, without limitation, cost of travel, entertainment, activities or insurance).
Insurance
We strongly advise you to take out insurance for cancellation and medical treatment to cover the cost of your stay.
Healthcare in Guernsey is provided by Private GPs, Consultants at The Medical Specialist Group LLP, and the Health & Social Care department and is outside of the UK National Health Service. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid in the Bailiwick. This means that most visitors from the UK will have to pay a fee for all services. Anyone travelling to the Islands, which include Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, will be required to pay for medical treatment. Visitors should therefore take out adequate insurance before they travel and the policy should include cover for emergency medical expenses plus repatriation in order that all treatment costs can be claimed.
